TERMINATOR 5 Has Their Kyle Reese

Paramount Pictures and Skydance have finally selected the new Kyle Reese for Terminator 5.

Jai Courtney has been chosen after several actors tested against Emilia Clarke, who was announced as the new Sarah Connor several weeks ago. Jason Clarke will play John Connor, and Arnold Schwarzenegger will reprise his role as the T-101 model cyborg.

Alan Taylor, who has worked with Ms. Clarke on Game of Thrones, will direct the reboot, which seems to be a hybrid reboot/sequel that takes place in the timeline prior to events depicted in The Terminator, which came out in 1984 and put James Cameron firmly on the Hollywood landscape. Some rumor has it that Schwarzenegger, given his age and physical condition, might actually be playing the human who became the template for the T-101, but if both characters are in the film, it’s likely Schwarzenegger will play dual roles.

Other rumors have the title of this film as Terminator: Genesis, although that has not been confirmed. It will, however, be the beginning of a new trilogy, and will likely not tie in with events in The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

Terminator 5 is due out June 26, 2015.
