TERMINATOR 5 Closing on Sarah Connor
The next film in the Terminator franchise already has Arnold Schwarzenegger committed to a part — likely that of the human template for the T-100 — and now we have word that the movie may be close to casting a young Sarah Connor.
Deadline reports Emilia Clarke and Brie Larson are on the short list. Director Alan Taylor is said to be interested in both, and Clarke has the lead in consideration after both tested for producers. She’s also worked for Taylor in his time as a director on Game of Thrones, where she plays Daenerys Targaryen.
According to a report in The Hollywood Reporter, Orphan Black star Tatiana Maslany has also tested for the part.

This will be the first of two movies, and reports have the casting of Kyle Reese and John Connor on hold until this decision is made. The implication is that at least part of the duology will be set in the future, while the rest of the story could be set early on in Sarah’s life post-Terminator.
