Robert Downey Jr. Announces New Environmental Cleanup Program

Robert Downey, Jr. has become a household name over the past decade through his role as Iron Man in the Marvel Studios movies. Now, after stepping down as the beloved Iron Avenger earlier in the year, he decided to take his role as Iron Man off screen.

On Tuesday, Downey announced a new plan to clean the Earth with the use of robotics and nanomachines, in a project called the Footprint Coalition. The project was announced at the Amazon’s re:MARS artificial intelligence conference, which is a tech event focused on new technological products. It also serves to have some of the brightest minds of this generation come together to work on their current endeavors.

This project was inspired by Downey’s role as Iron Man, who aids the human race via technology. While no details were given on this plan to clean up the planet, Downey says the plan will have the planet clean in approximately ten years.

The Footprint Coalition’s web site currently displays only a sign-up form for a newsletter. The project launches April 2020.
