Renewals for STAN AGAINST EVIL and PEOPLE OF EARTH; Sorry SALEM
Fans of WGN America’s witchy drama Salem will be disappointed to learn that the series will not be continuing for a fourth season. The show about the 17th century witch trials, which was the first original series for WGNA, began in 2014 and garnered 1.5 million viewers with its debut. The third season, which will be the final season, is currently airing on Wednesdays, with the series finale airing in January 2017.
Fortunately, fans shouldn’t be left with a vague ending or cliffhanger as series creators Brannon Braga and Adam Simon stated, “We knew this would be the third and final season and were able to craft an exciting climax to Mary’s transformational saga.”
IFC’s horror-comedy Stan Against Evil has fought its way to a second season. The number of fans has steadily increased since it debuted just after Halloween this year. You can check out some interviews and Q&A with the cast and crew after the premiere here.
The story follows a disgruntled former sheriff, Stan Miller (John McGinley), who has to team up with his beautiful replacement, Evie Barret (Janet Varney), to fight the demons that have been haunting their town since the witch trials. Apparently when one witchy door closes, another is held steadfastly open.
Season 2 will premiere sometime in 2017, and fans and crew alike are overjoyed by that. Jennifer Caserta, President of IFC, commented, “IFC is thrilled for another season of keeping Willard’s Mill safe from demons, monsters and succubuses, and we are enormously grateful for the talented John C. McGinley and Janet Varney, along with master storyteller Dana Gould, for bringing this oddly wonderful world to life.”

TBS also has some series news of its own. People of Earth has been renewed for a second season. The show, which aired its first episode on Halloween this year, is about a skeptical journalist, Ozzie Graham (Wyatt Cenac), who investigates a support group for alien abductees. The more he learns from the group, the more intrigued he becomes. The show has been well received and has a 7.7/10 rating on IMDB and 82% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes. You can catch up on previous episodes on the TBS website and watch new episodes as they air on Mondays at 9/8c.
