Poulter Might Have IT for King Remake
The filmmakers behind the upcoming feature film It may have finally found their clown in actor Will Poulter.
Variety reports that sources claim actor, Poulter, 22, came to be best known for Eustace Scrubb in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (2010), Kenny Rossmore in We’re the Millers (2013), and Gally in the film adaptation of the young-adult dystopian science fiction novel The Maze Runner (2014).
The report says he has been approach by director/screenwriter, Cary Fukunga and Chase Palmer for the coveted role of Pennywise the clown monster after being impressed by his audition for the role made famous and played to rave reviews by fellow-English actor Tim Curry in the 1991 ABC television two-part miniseries. It has, until now, never been adapted for the big screen due to the sheer 900-page length of King’s meganovel. In fact, as it turns out, the new It will be two feature-length films.
It is the story of a group of outcast children terrified by an interdimensional malevolent force capable of manifesting their darkest fears, and which masquerades as a clown to lure victims to their deaths. King’s novel spans several decades. Conversely, the films will focus on the protagonists first as children, with the follow-up focusing on them as adults with Poulter appearing in both as Pennywise.
Poulter can be seen in the role of Jim Bridger in The Revenant, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and as John Bartle in The Yellowbirds.
