OUTLANDER Announces Another Cast Addition for Season 2
Outlander has cast British actress Sophie Skelton in the role of Brianna for Season 2, Starz announced on Thursday this week. Brianna, a lovely redheaded young woman, is the (SPOILER!) daughter of lead characters Claire and Jamie Fraser. Strong-minded and intelligent, Brianna has a scholastic mindset along with a healthy dose of Fraser stubbornness.
Skelton, a trained singer and dancer, has appeared in UK TV shows including Doctors, DCI Banks, Waterloo Road and Foyle’s War. She most recently appeared in an episode of the BBC drama Casualty – Forsaking All Others. She’ll also be seen in the title role of Ren, a fantasy action-adventure series in which she plays a young woman marked by an ancient spirit. On the big screen, she’ll appear in Another Mother’s Son directed by Christopher Menaul, as well Ladybird directed by Tim Fellingham and Charlotte Stente Nelson.
As Outlander devotees will recall, the second season of the show is set to begin as Claire and Jamie arrive in France, intent on infiltrating the Jacobite rebellion led by Prince Charles Stuart, and stopping the battle of Culloden. With the help of his cousin Jared, a local wine merchant, Jamie and Claire are thrown into the lavish world of French society, where intrigue and parties are abundant, but political gain proves far less fruitful. Altering the course of history presents challenges that begin to weigh on their relationship. However, armed with the knowledge of what lies ahead, Claire and Jamie race to prevent a doomed Highland uprising and the extinction of Scottish life as they know it.
Produced by Ronald D. Moore, Jim Kohlberg, Andy Harries, Maril Davis, Ira Steven Behr, Toni Graphia and Anne Kenney, Outlander will return in April of 2016.
