New CAPTAIN AMERICA Images

Marvel has recently released a couple of new images of Chris Evans as CAPTAIN AMERICA. The first one, we’ve seen a few times now:

Chris Evans in his WWII costume.

This is undoubtedly the costume Cap wears after he’s done being a USO side-show and gets out into the field as the United States Army’s super-soldier. (Speculation on our part.) Notice the fabric actually looks like something period-specific, not spandex. Good choice, as it grounds the movie’s visuals in something  a little more realistic.

Unlike some of the costumes in the JSA episode of “Smallville”, this one looks like it actually belongs on Captain America. It’s functional, and it retains most of the look of the costume from the comic book.

Then there’s this:

Captain America in action. This one is obviously still during WWII. Notice what appear to be missiles behind Cap as he runs the catwalk. Best guess: this could be one of Cap’s confrontations with the Red Skull (Hugo Weaving). It has the feel of an underground bunker.

Speculation on our part, but it’s encouraging to see the amount of detail in Cap’s costume.
