GRIMM Gets to the Point

_______________

Episode 4:12 “Marechaussee”

In case you hadn’t heard, Grimm has been renewed for a fifth season. A hearty congratulations to everyone involved in producing the show. But an even bigger congratulations to the fans of Grimm. For without their support, the show would not have this longevity. From what I’ve seen, Grimm fans are loud and proud.

spoilers_GrimmThe Wesen Council sent an assassin to Portland. Of course, the audience hasn’t been privy to the Wesen Council’s rules for Wesen conduct. What offenses do they punish? Are there levels of punishment? Is every misstep a death sentence? Do they give out warnings for lesser rule breaking?

It appears that wolging in front of regular humans for a Wesen’s gain is one of those crimes that is punishable by death. The assassin is a manticore. This is the second time we’ve encountered manticores on Grimm. Most of the characters made a comment about encountering another manticore.

The manticore kills two Wesen fortune tellers. The man did a full wolge to convince the client that he was channeling her dead husband’s spirit. He then took a picture of each of his kills with a tablet, and that’s his proof to the Wesen Council to get paid. His next target was a pimp who wolged in front of his girl to keep her in line.

Grimm - Season 4

It’s hard to feel too bad for the pimp. He was not a nice person.

I wonder how Marechaussees sent confirmation of their kills to the Wesen Council before the advent of modern technology. I expect it involved something gory and took longer. If you’ll recall, Nick once sent back the heads of two assassins to send a message.

Grimm - Season 4

Monroe and Rosalee haven’t even gone through the mail before Monroe checks in with Nick. Outside of a television world, I can’t imagine this sort of life working for any couple. If I’m wrong, let me know. Of course, Nick and Hank dashed over to discuss the three deaths of the night before. Rosalee called the Wesen Council and asked if the three Wesen deaths were sanctioned by the Council.

It didn’t take long for the detectives to link the manticore to the three deaths. Nick wasn’t able to make the assassin wolge. Hank and Wu both become concerned that Nick is going to go to far. There wasn’t a lot of physical evidence tying him to the scene of the crimes. If Nick doesn’t follow procedure and pushes the assassin too hard, they’d have to let him go.

Wu looks at the assassin’s tablet and sees the pictures he sent of his kills and also that Nick is his next target. That explains why he was so careful not to woge in front of Nick. He knew who Nick is and was biding his time. What it doesn’t explain is why the Wesen Council put out a hit on Nick. The only reason given is that Nick interfered one time too often in the Council’s business.

Grimm - Season 4

The assassin waited till he was placed in a holding cell. He lured an officer to the cell bars and stabbed him with his manticore scorpion tail. That gave him access to the officer’s keys. Once he got out, he headed to Nick’s house. Not his brightest idea. He threatened Juliette who uses his own tail on him.

My favorite line of the whole episode was when Nick is shocked to find the manticore dead in his house and Juliette calmly sitting on the sofa. He asked what happened, and she says, “He missed.” How or why he didn’t just blather, “Say what?” at her, I have no idea.

Grimm - Season 4

Juliette had her own adventure this week. She told Henrietta that she doesn’t want to be a Hexenbiest. Henrietta cautioned her to find out what her true self is now. I think that Juliette took that message to heart. She worked on her ability to control her powers. Yes, she’s got some work to do. But, I can’t make the pepper mill move on its own at all. And in the end she used her Hexenbiest power to kill the manticore. She also said to Nick that if he could not promise to protect her, she would have to do that for herself. Based on what we saw, I’d say she’s on her way to being able to defend herself very well.

Henrietta looks like she will be a fun character. I hope that she will be written in more than just a few episodes. It feels like there is so much more to know about her. Anyone want to take guesses on her age?

The promo for next week teased a Hexenbiest fight. Adalind may regret what she did to Nick in more ways than one. She’s helped to create a very powerful Hexenbiest.

There was still no word from Trubel. It might be fun to see how Trubel and Josh are getting on. If the writers think that fans have forgotten their storyline, they’re mistaken.
