Disney Announces New Animated STAR WARS Series

It was just a few weeks ago that rumors were going around about a possible Clone Wars spin-off animated series that would be making its way to Disney Plus sometime soon, or at least, one that would be announced.

It was rumored to be a spin-off that would take place right after the siege of Mandalore, and Ahsoka, Captain Rex, and Commander Wolffe would all be making appearances in the show but not as the main characters. No, the main characters for the show that has now officially been confirmed, will be The Bad Batch.

Just today it was confirmed on StarWars.com that the series will follow The Bad Batch as they find their way through the galaxy in the immediate aftermath of the Clone War.

The article describes The Bad Batch as such: “A unique squad of clones who vary genetically from their brothers in the Clone Army — each possess a singular exceptional skill, which makes them extraordinarily effective soldiers – and a formidable crew. In the post-Clone War era, they will take on daring mercenary missions as they struggle to stay afloat and find new purpose.”

The Bad Batch were introduced in the seventh season of The Clone Wars that debuted this year on Disney Plus.

The series is executive produced by Dave Filoni, Athena Portillo, Brad Rau, and Jeniffer Corbett. Carrie Beck is on board as co-executive producer, and Josh Rimes as a producer. Brad Rau will also be a supervising director and Jeniffer Corbett is also listed as head writer.

The show is set to premiere on Disney Plus in 2021.
