DEFIANCE Lays an Egg

Episode 105 “The Serpent’s Egg”

Hey, Defiance: What the what?

The writers openly admit to cribbing the movie Hombre. And everything — I mean everything — was telegraphed from a mile away in this one.

And Ms. Not-Really-Mayor Amanda? Note for future reference: when your bus is under attack, you probably don’t want to open the friggin’ doors!

I’m not even going to waste my time on a recap this week. This episode was just all sorts of stock scenes and situations that we’ve seen before. Yes, we know the e-rep person is in on it from the start. Yes, we know this guy Irisa has strung up is really the guy and she’s going to have a “doubting herself” moment before the reveal that he’s really the guy.

And Irisa is now going to bring balance to the Force.

Oh, and you don’t have any more success making this show more like Firefly just by cribbing from Westerns and adding acoustic guitar to the music track.

I’m so tired of this show already. It’s only around now because Syfy has sunk a ton of money into it and need the advertising for the video game. That’s how you look at Defiance — a one-hour infomercial for Trion.

  • As soon as someone uttered the word “prophecy” I knew I was finally done with this show.
