BRONIES in Kansas City

It’s not usually something we cover, as it’s strictly not science fiction, but this year’s Kansas City FilmFest will feature the documentary a lot of genre fans are talking about: Bronies – The Extremely Unexpected Adult Fans of My Little Pony.

Directed by Michael Brockhoff and narrated by John de Lancie, the documentary looks at the rise of fandom surrounding the latest iteration of the animated offering, known among the fans as My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. It’s a distinction that fans and cast members make quickly, separating this version of the show from the previous three.

We spoke with de Lancie about the project at Dallas Comic Con 2012, and if everything goes right, we’ll be speaking with Brockhoff at the festival.
