Wil Wheaton Returns to Syfy

Wil Wheaton is going back to Syfy.

Well, he’s at least going back to “the network formerly known as Sci Fi” for his new show, The Wil Wheaton Project (a working title for now…).

Syfy made the announcement earlier this week, calling the new half-hour show “a fun appreciation and celebration of fandom and all things science fiction” that will surely be a success because of Wheaton’s “rock star status” among genre fans. That’s according to SyFy president Dave Howe, who’s tasked the current network executives to get Syfy back on course pre-Syfy.

Wheaton has described the new show as a Talk Soup for geeks, and the Syfy press release says, “Wil provides his insider point-of-view, sense of humor and genre expertise as he dissects the week’s most popular and trending topics across science fiction film, television and pop culture, video games, viral videos and news. Wil is on his feet for the rapid-fire half hour, delivering witty commentary on the things he knows and loves in this golden age of sci-pop culture.

The summer series kicks off Tuesday, May 27th as a lead-in to the second season of Heroes of Cosplay, and will not prevent Wheaton from continuing his work on Tabletop and The Big Bang Theory.
