What a Year!
What a year!
I can say that and speak entirely fourth-dimensionally. Because it applies both forward and backward. No matter which way I look, I can make that exclamation and mean it whole-heartedly.
2011 was a year of milestones for us here at SciFi4Me. Almost every single month, our audience grew. Not just bit by bit, but by leaps and bounds. Thousands of visits. More subscriptions. More followers on Twitter and fans on Facebook. Lots of views on our YouTube channel.
Dustin and Molly brought Reviews for Humans up a notch with their recaps of “The Vampire Diaries” along with “Teen Wolf” and reviews of the Twilight movies. Mr. Harvey, Mr. Smith and Dustin brought a unique process to the “Walking Dead” recaps. And Debbie got to see Sir Patrick Stewart’s knees.
We gave away some stuff. We visited more conventions, including San Diego Comic Con. We met more of you and saw a lot of fantastic costumes.
What a year!
Now, after taking a little time off, we’re ready to jump back in and look forward to more and better.
More recaps and reviews of the latest SF/F books, TV shows and movies (and catching up on the reading pile we still have…). Dustin and Molly will be back with recaps of “The Vampire Diaries” and “Being Human” this year. And who knows what else they have up their sleeves?
“Game of Thrones” is just around the corner, and HBO will be sending us some goodies to celebrate. And of course, those goodies are for you. (But don’t lose your head…)
Underworld Awakening comes out in just a couple of weeks (did you read my interview with the directors?). And then, of course, it’s going to be the year of the hero, as The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises will kick off a series of blockbuster spandex stories. Man of Steel, Men in Black 3, The Hobbit, Iron Man 3, Thor 2, Star Trek XII, “The Hulk” and “AKA Jessica Jones”… so many new live-action offerings, and 2012 is where it all starts!
This year also marks the expansion of our video productions, starting with the launch of “Comic Con Carne” – an all-news show about the comic book industry. The Facebook page is here, and the video will live on our YouTube channel. Every month we’ll look at what’s going on in the comics world, and our goal is to expand that coverage and bring you all the news that is news from around the world.
We also want to hear from you more. You have the opportunity to comment on every post, every video, every Tweet, every Wall post… anywhere we live in the social mediaverse is a chance for us to have a conversation. So jump in!
And bring your friends along. Share us with others (we don’t bite), and as the year goes on we’ll be making it worth your while. Really.
In the meantime, buckle up and enjoy the ride. It’s going to get even more exciting!
