THE LIBRARIANS to Open Season Two with a Double-header

On November 1st 8 p.m. (ET/PT), TNT will kick off season 2 of The Librarians, which reached an average viewership of 11.4 million viewers per episode in season 1.   The successful spin-off of the movie franchise, The Librarians is a next-generation series that appeals to all ages.  The ancient organization of Librarians is dedicated to protecting the world from magical and often dangerous artifacts, which they store in The Library.

In case you missed the first season, The Library retreated into a great Void to hide from danger.  It was ultimately recovered by Flynn Carsen (Noah Wyle), with the help of Jenkins, Baird, and The Library’s team of new recruits, whose exploits had been directed by a mysterious Clipping Book (and Jenkins).  At the end of the season, all of the artifacts they had collected through the season allowed the safe return of the Library, earning each of the rookies their own mini Clipping Book and setting them up to solve their own magical mysteries.

In the season’s opener, the scene is a massive storm over Manhattan that brings the team back together after having been off on their own.  The villain: none other than Shakespeare’s Magician: Prospero.  As The Librarians are busy with Prospero, Jenkins discovers there’s something wrong with the Library since it returned from the Void.  After the King Arthur story line from season 1, perhaps Shakespeare will be an overarching theme for season 2.

It seems that this will be the season of growth and change.  We can expect more background story for each of the characters in this new season as they each deal with their own demons in addition to reigning in the magic run amok.  It’s rumored that even the Library must change, which threatens to split Eve Baird and Flynn Carsen and throw a wrench in the whole “protect the world” mission of the Librarians.  I wonder if we might see the return of the moving house that appeared in the back of the vehicle in Season 1’s episode 8: “And the Heart of Darkness.”  And what about that little bit of Merlin’s magic that Cassandra was able to keep?

The cast returns: Rebecca Romijn (X-Men), Christian Kane (Leverage, Angel), Lindy Booth (Dawn of the Dead, The Philanthropist) and John Kim (Neighbors, The Pacific) star in the series as protectors of the world’s mystical treasures, with Emmy winner John Larroquette (Night Court, The Brink) as their reluctant caretaker. Noah Wyle (Falling Skies, ER) recurs as Flynn Carsen, the role he played in The Librarian movie trilogy.

The Librarians, produced by Electric Entertainment, finished its first season as basic cable’s #2 new series, behind TNT’s The Last Ship. Executive producers are Dean Devlin, John Rogers, Marc Roskin and Noah Wyle.  As with all TNT original series, episodes will be available across the network’s on-demand, digital and mobile platforms the day after their premieres, and throughout the entire season.

We’ll be recapping each week’s episodes and including tweets from fans and cast that are posted live during the airing, so tune in each week to see if we’ve used your tweet in the post!
