Thanks to You!

November brings all sorts of Thanksgiving-themed posts and articles and recipes and yadda yadda yadda… but it’s appropriate that I start off the month and thank everyone who has made this site such a worthy endeavor.

Not only have we had another record month in October, but we’re also finding new audiences through links dropped at other fan sites. Most notably, TrekWeb.com recently linked to Debbie’s article about Patrick Stewart in Orlando, and that’s generated quite a bit of interest – and a new link-up with the web site The Ph.Geek.

So, without further ado:

THANKS to all of the folks who contribute to this site, whether on a regular basis or as you have time. The work you put in (for no pay, even!) is appreciated on many levels. Your reviews, articles, news items, videos, and comments add to the value of this site daily. And when you go out on a limb and try something new, it only adds to your value as contributors.

THANKS to the authors, artists, actors, writers, and other notables who have subjected themselves to interviews for our site. (Especially Robert Kroese for being our first Skype test subject.) These interviews have added to our credibility as a web magazine worth visiting. And I dare say some name-dropping has helped us secure other interviews.

So, thanks to Erin Gray, Tom Kane, Sarah Douglass, Kevin Mellon, Dennis Hopeless, Matt Fraction, Jane Wiedlin, Dave Gibbons, Ashley Eckstein, Helen Slater, Cassidy Freeman, Adrienne Barbeau, Lindsay Wagner, Richard Jeffries, Anne Lockhart, Noah Wyle, Moon Bloodgood, Marina Sirtis, Claire Coffee, Robert Kroese, A. C. Crispin, Kevin J. Anderson, R. A. Salvatore, David Weber, Kevin Conroy, Bruce Timm, Andrea Romano, Dan Parent, James Asmus, Rod Roddenberry, Amanda Tapping, Robin Dunne, Sam Liu, Lauren Montgomery, Katee Sackhoff, Ben McKenzie, Ernie Cline, Jewel Staite, Charlaine Harris, Kerry Callen, Mekenna Melvin, Kyle Strahm, John Clark, Seth Peck, Tiffany Shepis, Alaina Huffman, Mira Furlan, Bill Morrison, Larry Hama, Jeremy Bulloch, Daniel Logan, Vonda N. McIntyre, The folks at Gl!tchCon, Planet Comicon, San Diego Comic Con, Star Wars Fan Days, Osfest, Slash & Bash, Vulcan Events, Spooky Empire, the Fright Night Film Festival, and anyone we’ve missed (I’m sure there’s going to be at least one…).

THANKS to the networks and production companies who have given us media access to photos, videos and other publicity material to help us cover their shows and movies. While we’re still apparently not big enough for CBS and ABC, we enjoy more connections with the people who make the stuff we like to watch, and that helps us bring more material to you.

Which leads us to you. The fans.

THANK YOU to everyone who visits regularly. Thanks for commenting. Thanks for sharing. Thanks for connecting with us on Facebook. And Twitter. And YouTube. And Vimeo. (You are connected to us everywhere, right?)

November 26th is the anniversary of SciFi4Me 2.0, the WordPress template that launched after we lost our original hosting site. And it’s been a great year. So many conventions. So many interviews. So many books still in the pile to read… And we have so many plans for more things to do in the next year, including podcasts, more video segments, and who knows what may come out of the Sekrit Lab?…

And a special THANK YOU to my patient and indulgent wife, who puts up with the late nights, the weekend trips, the late nights, and this whole crazy notion that one day this web magazine might actually turn into something.

And the late nights.

  • As your patient and indulgent wife I am thrilled to see you stick to this even though there are days I roll my eyes – I know you are truly commited to this project. Plus I have enjoyed the weekends away at conventions – watching you and our son knee deep in all things science fiction makes me happy.

To all of you who contribute and view this site my thanks to you. Keep up the out of this world everyone – there is bound to be a pay off just past that next planet.

    Happy Thanksgiving to you all.
