GAMBIT Snags Its Director

BANNER_News2013

Gambit has acquired its director. While Channing Tatum is both producing and starring as the titular role, Twentieth Century Fox has reportedly hired Rupert Wyatt to direct this X-Men spinoff. Wyatt is known for directing Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011) and The Gambler (2014).

The character of Gambit only debuted in 1990, but has progressed to be a fan favorite of the X-characters. Most recently, his character was portrayed by Taylor Kitsch in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. This film gave viewers, whether they were avid comic book readers or completely new to the X-world, an overall look at the character of Gambit.

This X-character was raised in New Orleans and has a Cajun accent. He is an expert card-thrower and has the power to create and manipulate kinetic energy. Viewers saw this power most readily when, in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Kitsch’s Gambit throws Wolverine, played by Hugh Jackman, through a wall by hitting him with several kinetically charged playing cards.

Gambit, written by Josh Zetumer, will hit theaters on October 7, 2016.
