Brandon Routh Joins ARROW
Remember when Superman Returns was going to kick off the new DC Cinematic Universe? Until it didn’t?
Fans are split on the performance of Brandon Routh, but many feel he wasn’t given a good enough script to support his performance — an almost letter-perfect match for that of Christopher Reeve. Well, now he gets another shot in the DC filmed universe. Only not as Superman, but as another member of the Justice League.

Routh joins the cast of Arrow as Dr. Ray Palmer, in a recurring role throughout season three. Since the first mention of “Ray and Jean” in season one, fans have been wondering when the two would appear on the show. Jean Loring, played by Teryl Rothery, was Moira Queen’s lawyer. But Ray Palmer was nowhere in sight. Now he’ll make several appearances, but will he play the alter-ego as well?
According to TVLine, Routh will play Palmer and the Atom, but that could be just speculation based on what we know of the character. And this is the “Daniel” character we’d heard rumors about (note Routh played “Daniel Shaw” on Chuck). So keep waiting patiently for Ted Kord to arrive later.
Palmer is described as “an unparalleled scientist and inventor” who becomes the new owner of Queen Consolidated, Ray Palmer could also end up being a love interest for Felicity Smoak.
And now that The Flash is introducing (highlight for spoiler –>) meta-humans into this story universe, it’s entirely possible we’ll see some of that spill over into Arrow.
