ARROW Continues to Steal From Batman, Adds Talia Al Ghul
According to reports, The CW has announced that Talia al Ghul will be joining the ever-expanding roster of Batman-related characters to appear on Arrow.
Lexa Doig (Andromeda, Continuum) will play the eldest daughter of Ra’s al Ghul, described as “worldly and cultured” and an elite warrior who doesn’t pick sides. Aside from a child Talia appearing in Legends of Tomorrow, Talia has been conspicuously absent from the League of Assassins collection of characters so far in the Arrowverse.
When the news came that Katrina Law was joining the cast as the daughter of Ra’s, everyone assumed she would be playing Talia. However, given that Talia was appearing in The Dark Knight Rises (played by Marion Cotillard), Law’s character was revealed as Talia’s half-sister Nyssa.
Talia made her first appearance in Detective Comics #411 in 1971. Since then, she’s been both a protagonist and a lover for Bruce Wayne. In the comics, the two have a child together. Damian Wayne is the current Robin, and has been featured along with Talia in several recent animated features, voiced by Gotham‘s Morena Baccarin.
Doig will have a recurring role starting in the tenth episode of Arrow, entitled “Who Are You?” and will appear in several episodes throughout the season. No word on how she’ll react to Green Arrow’s killing her father…
