WONDER WOMAN Release Date Moved Up

BANNER_News2013

Warner Bros. Entertainment announced today that Wonder Woman will open earlier than the original June 23, 2017 date. The Amazon Princess will grace screens on June 2, 2017.

Warners also added two more yet-to-be-named DC movies to the current slate.

The move comes in combination with WB moving Andy Serkis’ version of Jungle Book back to 2018, a move with which Serkis readily agreed, saying, “I’ve got to say that personally I’m absolutely thrilled that Warner Brothers have changed the delivery date of our movie. The ambition for this project is huge. What we are attempting is an unprecedented level of psychological and emotional nuance in morphing the phenomenal performances of our cast into the facial expressions of our animals.”

Wonder Woman will be the first solo outing for Gal Gadot after her well-received turn in Batman v Superman. It was a role she wasn’t expecting, telling Ellen Degeneres in an interview that she wasn’t aware she was auditioning for Wonder Woman, only that she was trying for a part in a Zack Snyder film.

Gadot’s performance has been highlighted by many as one of the few bright moments of the film.

The new date also moves Wonder Woman away from competing with Transformers 5, and puts in on the same weekend as Sony’s Bad Boys 3 and Fox’s Captain Underpants.
