The CW Renews… Everything

BANNER_News2013

In an announcement from network president Mark Pedowitz, the CW has renewed their entire slate of shows currently on the air, plus Reign, which is on hiatus.

“The CW has become home to some of the most critically-acclaimed shows on broadcast television, with a wide array of fantastic scripted series across the week, ranging from musical comedy, to superhero action, to gritty sci-fi dramas,” said Pedowitz. “As we continue to further our strategy of more year-round original programming, picking up these 11 series for the 2016-2017 season puts us in a great position of having proven, high-quality shows to launch in the fall as well as midseason and summer of 2017.”

The early renewals include all of the DC shows: The FlashArrowDC’s Legends of Tomorrow.

Also coming back: fan favorite The 100The Vampire DiariesThe OriginalsSupernaturaliZombieCrazy Ex-Girlfriend, and Jane the Virgin. Back in January, the network also announced more screen time for Vixen on CW Seed.

Although it’s nowhere near a record number, Supernatural‘s 12th season moves it past such shows as MAS*HCheers, and Frasier.

Beauty and the Beast will return to the network June 2nd for its final season.

So, if CBS renews Supergirl (as is rumored to be the case), Stephen Amell just might get his chance at a cross-over?

  • Either they didn’t like the new shows being offered to them, or they’re pleased with the numbers their current shows are getting. I’ll say, I think this crop of shows is quite strong. So, no complaints from me.
