IDW Announces New TREK

IDW Publishing and CBS Consumer Products announced today, that they’re teaming up with Roberto Orci to explore the universe in the alternate universe of STAR TREK.

The new title will follow the cast from the 2009 reboot and “re-imagine” some of the stories from the Original Series (probably not any of the ones that take place on Vulcan, though…).The comic will also have original stories as well, under the creative direction of Orci.

Mike Johnson and Stephen Molnar will begin the new title with a re-vamped “Where No Man Has Gone Before”. Although since Gary Mitchell and Elizabeth Dehner weren’t in the 2009 movie, it will be interesting to see how this classic episode gets retold.

IDW, which has published a TREK title before, is no stranger to genre, having DOCTOR WHO, STAR TREK, GODZILLA, G.I.JOE, and others.

Issue #1 of the new series will be in comic book stores in September 2011.
