EXTANT Makes Cast Changes for Season 2
The CBS drama Extant will be making changes to its cast for the second season, according to a report from Deadline.
Returning to the show will be leads Halle Berry and Pierce Gagnon, who play astronaut Molly Woods and her android son Ethan, respectively. Grace Gummer, who plays an assistant on the Humanichs Project, will also return for the season.
Goran Visnjic and Camryn Manheim will have appearances in the first few episodes, but will not stay on through the season. Hiroyuki Sanada and Michael O’Neill will not return.
The cast changes are driven by the new story line, as Molly will be in search of her son, who is threatening the human race. New cast members have yet to be announced, but there is no indication that CBS or Amblin TV is cutting back in terms of budget or resources, despite the show’s performance in the ratings. The first season averaged 8.64 million viewers and a 1.7 in adults 18-49, although the season finale only drew in 5.4 million viewers and a 1.0 rating.
