Comic-Con Virgin – Day One

Today I took it pretty easy. I was focused on getting the lay of the land and figuring out what I was doing. I got there around 8:00 a.m. and went on a trek for my badge.  This was the longest line I have ever encountered in my life.  After about an hour of waiting I got my badges and pick up my “Swag” bag which was the largest bag I have ever encountered in my life.  Then I was off to the convention floor, which was a sensory overload. There was so much to take in so I just began wandering around and stopped around a few booths. I found the T.A.R.D.I.S., Captain America’s suit from the upcoming Avengers film, and Chris Evans himself.

I ended the day with a Buffy the Vampire Slayer/LGBT panel with Jane Espenson, Tom Lenk and Scott Allie. It was a lot of fun seeing Tom Lenk (Andrew on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”) and Jane Espenson (Writer on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”) reminisce about old times on Buffy. The only big news at the panel was about Buffy the Vampire Slayer season 9 which is the next installment of the story in comic book form. They will be focusing more on the individual characters more instead of specific story arcs. They will also begin introducing a few more male characters into the equation.

Overall I would have to say it was a great way to ease myself into the convention. Tomorrow, I will be hitting the panels big time so stayed tuned because there is much more to come.
