Mr. Smith: Once More Unto the Breach

THE KING OF THE NORTH! THE KING OF THE NORTH!!!

Alas. It’s over. For a year anyway. Here’s your HBO recap thing.

It is lucky for us that it will be back next spring, though. Much is now set to unfold. Daenerys has her dragons, but her Khal is dead, Tyrion is on his way to the Red Keep to be hand of the King, WITH Shae, Sansa is being forced to marry an insane little boy, Aria is on her way to the wall, Jon is off to battle the Wildlings and White Walkers and whatever waits beyond the Wall, Bran and Rickon are seeing ghosts now, Hodor hodor hodor, Jaime is captured by the Starks, Robb is now King of the North, And Catelyn is going to help Robb “Kill them all.”

A Storm of Swords is coming. I know it’s going to be amazing. I’ve read it. So should you if you haven’t already. The Starks’ troubles are just beginning. So are the Lannisters’, and Daenerys has got baby dragons, which means trouble for EVERYBODY.

What a way to end the season though, huh? This series has made me rethink my own vengeance on HBO for cancelling “Deadwood,” heretofore the best show ever aired, in my ever so humble opinion. I’m saddened by the end of the season, but I have GREAT hope for the future. It’s a fairly common thing to have a series like this take a little time to find it’s legs, and hit a nice stride in it’s second season. I really don’t feel like this series has has any trouble finding itself though, but it’s inevitable that the things learned this season will be implemented next season, and this show will become a worldwide phenomenon. Deservedly so.

And now….the end of season awards!

The “Most Stoic Countenance” award goes to: Sean Bean for Eddard Stark

On a personal note, I wanted to say a big thank you to some folks. First, my editor, Jason Hunt, for giving me the opportunity to write about this show. I have enjoyed it IMMENSELY! He’s first, but the rest are in no particular order. Thank you Alexander, for opening your home every week that I may watch this show without the need to pirate it. You’re a gracious host and excellent friend. Thank you to George R.R. Martin for creating such a unique and wonderful story. Thank you to all of you who stop by to check out my posts and hopefully the rest of the website. Thank you to the cast of the show for making it so incredibly real, and to the crew and craftspeople who give them the world in which they play. And thank you to me, who is so lucky to be able to do this!

In the interim, while we wait, look for book reviews, and perhaps I’ll do some special things that will entertain you. You shouldn’t have to suffer the wait alone.

I’ll be back shortly!
