EXCLUSIVE: Robert Patrick Joins SF Alumni for THE ROAD WITHIN
The Road Within, currently in production from Troika Pictures, revealed today that Robert Patrick (Terminator 2, True Blood) has joined the cast. While the film isn’t sci-fi in the least (it’s the journey of a young man with Tourette’s as he travels through California), most of the stars are serious science fiction alumni.
Robert Sheehan, who has the lead role as “Vincent,” was on the British “ordinary people with superpowers” show Misfits, and has also been in The Borrowers, Season of the Witch, and is in the upcoming The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.
Dev Patel is known for Slumdog Millionaire, but he was also Prince Zuko in The Last Airbender, and is currently a cast member of The Newsroom. He’s also rumored to be in consideration for Neill Blomkamp’s next picture, Chappie.
Zoe Kravitz is best known to sci-fi audiences as Angel Salvadore in X-Men: First Class. She has also been in After Earth, and is in the upcoming Mad Max: Fury Road as “Toast.”
Also joining the cast is long-time Hollywood veteran Kyra Sedgewick. The Road Within is written and directed by Gren Wells. The film is her directorial debut, and is shooting throughout California until mid-August, including locations in Yosemite and Santa Cruz.
