It’s starting to look as if Pacific Rim: Maelstrom is assembling a corps of cadets.

Variety reports that Levi Meaden and Tian Jing have joined the Legendary Entertainment project, which will be directed by Daredevil showrunner Steven S. DeKnight in his feature film directorial debut.

Meadan (The 100The Killing) is currently appearing opposite Anne Heche in the post-apocalyptic survival series Aftermath, which debuts on Syfy September 27th. His role in the Pacific Rim sequel hasn’t been revealed, but with last week’s announcement that relative newcomer Cailee Spaeny has been added in a lead role, it seems this movie might be about the young trainees.

Jing can next be seen in Kong: Skull Island with Tom Hiddleston and Brie Larson. She’s also a relative newcomer to the United States film scene, having spent the bulk of her career in China, where it’s rumored she continues to be cast in projects because she’s the girlfriend of a shareholder at Wanda Group, which bought Legendary for $3.5 billion in January this year. Legendary is also producing Kong.

According to reports and rumors, the movie will film in Australia and China, with Star Wars lead John Boyega playing the son of Idris Elba’s Stacker Pentecost. Scott Eastwood is also in the cast; however, no word yet on the return of Rinko Kikuchi as Mako Mori.
