PACIFIC RIM 2 Officially a "Go"
Guillermo del Toro has made it official: Pacific Rim 2 is happening, with a release date of April 2017.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the exact date is April 7th, and according to an interview with BuzzFeed, pretty much everyone will be making a return. “Raleigh, Mako, Newt, Gottleib and who knows, maybe even Hannibal Chau — but we are taking them into a fresh territory that will display amazing sights and battles. The first film set the stage and now we’re ready to have a blast.”
Currently in post-production on Crimson Peak, del Toro also announced an animated Pacific Rim series as well, and the comic book will continue. Script work on the sequel will include del Toro along with Zak Penn and Travis Beacham. Legendary Pictures will produce, with Universal Pictures set to distribute.
