Now that the surprise hit Stranger Things has officially been picked up by Netflix for a second season, they are jumping right in with new casting plans. The hit show’s executive producer, Shawn Levy, announced Sadie Sink and Dacre Montgomery will be filling two of the three new characters this season.

The American Odyssey redheaded regular will play Max, a tough and confident tomboy with a complicated past and suspicious streak. Her looks and characteristics will be more typical of boys for this era. Sink started her professional career in the Broadway revival of Annie. She was a series regular on NBC’s The American Odyssey and will soon be seen in theaters, The Glass Castle and The Breeders.

Australian born Montgomery will play Billy, Max’s older step brother. He has been labeled as a charismatic, drinking, Camaro driving 17-year-old, out to steal other guy’s girlfriends. There is the possibility that this edgy, confident bad boy may be trouble with season one’s couple Nancy and Steve. Montgomery will be portraying the red Power Rangers in the upcoming reboot of the series.

The third character announced is an adult named Roman. The character, having both gender and ethnicity up in the air, reportedly will have the most troubled history of the new additions and is on a revenge mission.

Other announcements for the cast include promotions for Joe Keery (Steve) and Noah Schnapp (Will).  They will become series regulars this season. This could be good news for fans of Nancy’s popular jock boyfriend (and Jean Ralphio jokes) plus the chance to really find out what happened with Will’s trip to Upside Down.

Season 2 will air in 2017.
