Happy Towel Day!
Hey everyone…The Lush here. I just wanted to present you all with a plethora of fun for Towel Day 2011. For those of you who don’t know what I’m talking about, Towel Day is “an annual celebration on the 25th of May, as a tribute to the late author Douglas Adams” (as according to the official website: www.towelday.org). If you still don’t understand, you really disappoint me and desperately need to pick up a copy of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.
Now, I may be a little biased, but I think the best way to enjoy the memory of Mr. Adams is through the imbibing of the Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster. Although, I doubt the majority of the population has ready access to that Ol’ Janx Spirit, so wonderfully geeky bartenders have come up with a whole host of Earth Recipes found here.
Another great way to celebrate the fun is to organize a Hitchhiker’s Guide watching party (seriously, who didn’t love Alan Rickman as Marvin), or perhaps to enjoy the original BBC series? Nobody available? Just read Hitchhiker’s or any of the other wonderful creations Mr. Adams completed or surf for amazing towel or 42 related articles such as the absolute gold of “42 Awesome Ways to Use a Towel.” If you’re really strapped for ideas, there’s a great listing of the celebrations on the Towel Day website and also on Gnews.
Don’t forget to take your towel with you today…take pictures, post them on Facebook, on Flickr, on Twitter! Tell ’em AJtheLush at SciFi4Me.com sent ya.
And, for posterity…a movie trailer.
