The Biggest Games Releasing this Month: May 2019

May is upon us. Even though the weather is getting better, you can still stay indoors and play video games. To help you avoid the Sun, we came up with a list of the biggest games releasing during the month of May.

RAGE 2

Avalanche Studios’ Rage 2 is a first-person shooter in a Mad Max style world. Taking place 30 years after the events of 2011’s Rage, you play as Walker as they try to end “the Authority,” a dictatorship ruling what’s left of mankind. Walker is known as the last ranger in a world put in ruins by an asteroid, killing most of humanity and creating gnarly mutants.

This game might sound really intense, but Rage doesn’t take itself too seriously. We will have to wait to see if Rage 2 features first-person shooting mechanics as good as the first game, but it looks like the colorful open world should be fun to explore. Rage 2 is out on PS4, Xbox One and PC May 14.

OBSERVATION

Observation is kind of 2001: A Space Odyssey – but you’re HAL,” is how No Code co-founder Jon McKellen described (perfectly) this game. In this sci-fi space thriller, you control S.A.M., the space station’s artificial intelligence.

The game begins with S.A.M. rebooting itself after something unknown has happened. S.A.M. must help crew leader Dr. Emma Fisher by completing various tasks and puzzles in order to figure out what is happening on the station. Observation releases on PC and PS4 May 21. The game will also feature VR capabilities.

BLOOD AND TRUTH

Speaking of VR games that people have been waiting forever for, Blood and Truth finally comes out this month. Players will take the perspective of soldier Ryan Marks as he runs and guns through London. The game’s visuals look amazing and the action looks fast and intense.

Sony has been advertising this game as an action movie that stars you, and it looks like that is the perfect description for the game. This is one of the first “big” games to come out for PSVR. Instead of being a short experience, this game will give you a longer story to enjoy than what you have usually had with the PSVR. The highly anticipated action VR game launches May 28 for PSVR.

Resident Evil Switch Remasters

Capcom has been making really good moves lately, and this was definitely one of them. Resident Evil, Resident Evil 0 and Resident Evil 4 will all come to the Nintendo Switch this month. These remasters are a great opportunity for new players or old fans to experience the origins of the series and some of the best zombie games ever.

You can buy each game individually for $29.99, or the Origins Collection for $59.99. It seems you can only purchase RE4 individually, but it is great to see Capcom not charging full price for remasters (something Nintendo loves to do). You can play all three of these Resident Evil games on the Nintendo Switch May 21.

There are, of course, more games coming out in May, but these are the ones we wanted to tell you about. Keep an eye out for more coverage of these games and lists of the top games releasing each month in the gaming section of SciFi4Me.
