Syfy is adding to its list of entries in the horror category, giving a green light to Channel Zero, a limited anthology series from Max Landis and Nick Antosca. The show was put on a fast track back in June, and will be produced through Universal Cable Productions.

The first installment will be Candle Cove, based on the popular online story by Kris Straub, centered around one man’s obsessive recollections of a mysterious children’s TV show from the 1980s and his growing suspicions about the role it played in a series of deadly events from his childhood. Antosca (Hannibal) wrote the pilot script and will executive produce along with Landis (Chronicle).

The Candle Cove installment will air in two blocks of six-episode seasons in the fall 2016 and fall 2017 “31 Days of Halloween” programming blocks on Syfy.

Channel Zero is Syfy’s latest addition to its growing horror lineup, which includes a third season renewal for Z Nation and development of a new version of Wes Craven’s The People Under the Stairs.

Syfy also announced season renewals for Ghost Hunters and Paranormal Witness. Both received 13-episode orders for 2016. This will be the eleventh season for Ghost Hunters and the fifth for Paranormal Witness, which will now go by the title Paranormal Witness: True Terror.

Ghost Hunters production studio, Pilgrim Studios, just made a deal with Lionsgate in which the studio will take an ownership stake in the indie production house. Pilgrim’s Craig Piligian, Mike Nichols, Thomas Thayer, and Alad David will executive produce the new season of Ghost Hunters.

Paranormal Witness: True Terror is produced by Raw TV, with Mark Lewis as executive producer.
