Syfy Cancels Z NATION

Z Nation executive producer David Michael Latt took to Twitter the evening of December 21st to announce via Periscope, that Syfy has cancelled the show. Season five will be its last.

Latt confirmed that the network informed the production staff two days prior, and that the Z Nation team has been grateful for every season Syfy ordered during the show’s run.

Co-executive producer David L. Garber was also on the feed, announcing that Netflix, which is a partner in producing the show, will have an eight-episode prequel starring Jaime King as a mother looking for her daughter as she journeys through a hostile new world during the summer of a zombie apocalypse.

Garber said, “We want to thank everybody for tuning in and supporting the show for as long as you have. The sad news is, it’s over, like — Z Nation‘s over, but the good news is we have a show starting in the Spring, which is kind of an origin story. It’s called Black Summer. It’ll be on Netflix exclusively.”

Z Nation was produced by The Asylum, which also produced the Sharknado series of films.
