STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS Coming to LEGO Video Game Franchise

“Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, TT Games, The LEGO Group, and Lucasfilm today announced LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens, a new entry in the No. 1 LEGO video game franchise, allowing players to experience all the action of the hit film combined with LEGO’s hallmark humor and visual style. ” With that announcement, Star Wars once again expands into the LEGO video game universe.

The game will feature new gameplay mechanics and new story content that will cover the time between The Force Awakens and Return of the Jedi.

“We’re extremely proud of the LEGO Star Wars video games, truly an incredible franchise that has sold more than 33 million copies and helped ignite a passion for numerous fun-filled LEGO games enjoyed by countless fans around the world,” said Tom Stone, managing director, TT Games. “LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be bigger and better in every way, pushing the series forward with innovative new gameplay mechanics, while also exploring new parts of the universe that is sure to excite and delight both Star Wars fans and newcomers.”

Gameplay enhancements include a “Multi-Builds” system that allows players to choose from multiple building options, new blaster combat where players can use the surrounding environments to fight the First Order, and high-speed flight through arena-based battles and space dogfights.

Enemies will now be able to build as well, adding more threats to the player as the First Order combatants can support each other with air strikes, heavy artillery, and reinforcements.

The new title is set for release June 28, 2016, and will be available for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 (along with exclusive DLC), PlayStation Vita, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Wii U, the Nintendo 3DS family of systems, and Windows PC.
