S.H.I.E.L.D. Faces Off Against a New Inhuman
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will have a new antagonist moving into the third season. Matthew Willig comes on board as the Inhuman known as Lash, created by Charles Soule and Joe Maduiera, Lash has the ability to generate energy whips. In the comics he’s a self-appointed judge who decides which Inhumans get to have powers.
In the press release about the upcoming season, ABC also reveals that Juan Pablo Raba will play an Inhuman named Joey, part of a group of “other surprising characters.” No information on his abilities as of yet, but he’s likely to be part of the “Secret Warriors” team lead by Agent Daisy Johnson.
The release also indicates that Chloe Bennet’s character will be embracing her real identity this season, as she and Director Coulson (Clark Gregg) search the world for more people with powers. But they soon learn that they’re not the only group looking for Inhumans.

Season three picks up several months after the battle with Jiaying and her Inhuman army. Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) has yet to return from her time with ex-husband Andrew (Blair Underwood), Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) is searching for Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge), who was sucked into the Kree monolith, an alien artifact being stored in the hold of the S.H.I.E.L.D. aircraft carrier.
Besides the new Inhumans, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will introduce the Advanced Threat Containment Unit, led by Constance Zimmer’s character. The new S.H.I.E.L.D. team will be a mix of powered individuals and non-powered humans.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns to ABC September 29.
