What’s Coming Up:

With Teen Wolf‘s premiere being right around the corner, we’re finally learning more about what to expect from the fourth season of this hit show. Joseph Gatt will be guest starring as a dark and creepy character. Since the actor said he had a lot of fun on set, we can probably expect him in some action scenes. The premiere episode is said to explain Lydia’s Banshee powers, as well as what kind of monster Kate turned into. Stiles fans will be very happy with the opening episode, since Dylan O’Brien’s character seems to be heavily featured. And, as is tradition for Teen Wolf, the episode will be full of WTF moments, including one really strange moment for Derek.

Stars Speak Out:

Michelle Forbes talked to The Hollywood Reporter about her Orphan Black character Marion Bowles. “Marion does get weirder and weirder over the next couple of episodes — and I like that.” She also revealed that she will be present in the last two episodes of the season. The unexpected exit of Dr. Leekie certainly changes everything for each of the involved characters, Forbes pointed out, and it will be interesting to see where the show goes from there.

Grant Gustin spoke with the IGN about his new CW show The Flash and the character of Barry Allen. “Barry’s excited by all of this. He’s a fanboy! And I don’t have to hide my excitement as I play the role, so it’s really fun to play with.” Unlike on the dark and gritty Arrow, it’s obvious we can expect a much brighter show. There won’t be as much emphasis on keeping Barry’s abilities a secret. Gustin also talked about the possibility of crossovers: “I don’t know which characters, but there are going to be crossovers for sure between the two shows. I don’t know who it’s going to be, but yes, that’s gonna happen.”

We learn more an more about Arrow‘s Malcolm Merlyn, played by (promoted to regular) John Barrowman. Barrowman recently told E!Online “Malcolm’s losing everybody around him in his life for whatever reason…he figured out the last reason he lost Tommy was because he became emotionally connected to somebody. Malcolm can control everybody physically or with money, what’s really interesting now is Malcolm needs to learn how to control people emotionally so he doesn’t lose anybody now.” He will now try to emotionally manipulate Thea to make sure he doesn’t lose her as well.

Behind the Scenes:

It’s been announced in May that Daniel Sharman will be joining Colton Heyes at the CW. The fan favorite decided to exchange werewolf powers for magic, as he accepted the role of Kaleb on the hit series The Originals. His character, a handsome, devilish new witch in the French Quarter’s coven. “Intent on wreaking havoc, wooing women and causing as much chaos as possible, Kaleb has been deeply wounded by a horrific family upbringing and covers his emotional bruises with a wicked sense of humor, as well as a wicked temper.” It’s said to be a major season 2 role and based on some of the behind the scenes photos circulating the web, we might expect Sharman to show up as early as the season premiere. Given that the majority of French Quarter witches died in the season one finale, Sharman might indeed find himself with a lot to do. We will keep you updated.

TNT has released a video journal featurette promoting their upcoming new series The Last Ship. “Having just discovered a new virus that could drive man to extinction, a young doctor begins a video journal to track her progress in preventing a global pandemic.” The Last Ship is coming to TNT on Sunday, June 22nd at 9/8c.

The network also released a featurette promoting Falling Skies where an unknown interviewer, armed with a repaired video camera, tries to pull information from Tom Mason’s oldest boys as they make their way around Boston.

SHOWTIME has ordered a second season of Penny Dreadful, to air next year. “Picking up Penny Dreadful was one of the easiest decisions I’ve made,” said Showtime president David Nevins. “The series has had worldwide impact, drawing big, passionate audiences on both sides of the Atlantic, and more than any other show on our network has hit the bullseye with viewers who want to watch television in all the new ways that are available. John Logan has deftly created an epic series that has drawn raves from a wide-range of audiences from quality drama lovers to critics, to hardcore genre fans.”

Casting News:

The Returned is shaping up its cast. At the end of May this A&E drama, based on an acclaimed French series, tapped Lost‘s Mark Pellegrino as Jack, the father of twins who died in a school bus crash at age 16 and has reappeared, four years later. Now Deadline reports that the show creators cast Arrow‘s Kevin Alejandro as a regular, an authoritative but accessible Sheriff Tommy Moran. Also on the show will be Once Upon a Time in Wonderland‘s Sophie Lowe (as one of Jack’s daughters, Lena) and Revolution‘s Mat Vairo (as one of the returned, Simon).

SYFY announced on Wednesday that Brian Van Holt (Cougar Town, The Bridge) will star in the channel’s new original, six hour event series Ascension, portraying eponymous ship’s captain, William Denninger. Van Holt joins the previously announced Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica) in the intergalactic mystery series; the two will play husband and wife.

A politician as well as a military man, Denninger is a natural leader. Rising through the ship’s ranks, he became captain of the Ascension as a result of his heroic actions during a catastrophic fire that nearly destroyed the ship early in its voyage. While strong-willed and confident, he and his wife, Viondra (Helfer), have a very public yet tortured marriage.

In 1963, the U.S. government launched a covert space mission sending hundreds of men, women and children on a century-long voyage aboard the starship Ascension to populate a new world. Nearly 50 years into the journey, as they approach the point of no return, the mysterious murder of a young woman causes the ship’s population to question the true nature of their mission.
