Philippa Boyens Set to Adapt THE MERLIN SAGA

BANNER_News2013

Through a Deadline exclusive we have learned that Disney has set Philippa Boyens to write a screenplay adaptation of The Merlin Saga.

Life Of Pi’s Gil Netter is producing the adaptation based on the series of books written by T.A. Barron, which spans 12 volumes. This is Boyens’ chance to work outside of her long collaboration with Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh on both The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies, as well as King Kong and The Lovely Bones.

Disney picked up the books after Warner Bros. let them go, with Patrick Massett and John Zinman being the first scribes that were brought on. Now the studio has a writer who knows how to launch a successful period fantasy world franchise, which is the hope for Merlin.
