Orci & Kurtzman Split
Variety is reporting that long-time production partners Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman are going their separate ways with regard to film endeavors.
According to the report, the split is amicable, and will allow them to each pursue more opportunities to direct films. Orci is lobbying to get the center seat for Star Trek 13, while Kurtzman has already been tapped to helm Venom, which he also co-wrote. Kurtzman is also negotiating a deal with Universal that would put him in charge of the monster movie reboots — among them The Mummy and Van Helsing.
The two will continue to work together on their various television projects, which include Sleepy Hollow and Hawaii Five-O.
