OK,  let’s recap some video game news of the past month and some items of note coming up soon:

11/6/12

halo4Release of the anticipated Halo 4.  After the first one, we were told it was over.  After the second one, we were told Master Chief was dead.  After the third we were told the franchise was finalized.  Bungie even sold the rights to Halo to Microsoft Studios.  Turns out there’s a 4th one now.

Persona 4 Arena came out on Xbox Live and Ps3.  A 2D style fighting game that I’m not entirely familiar with.  I do know there are hard core gaming circuits that hail from the Persona series much like the Tekken and Street Fighter franchises.

Vergil’s Downfall is announced as playable DLC for DMC: Devil May Cry.  Devil May Cry is one of those hack-slash/action games much in the same breath as the God of War series.

I personally am not a fan of hyper-reality military simulator first person shooter games, but I do recognize that it has a large genre following.

Video Game Cosplay.  Sometimes it’s great. Sometimes it’s not so great.

This one Focuses on Atlas company games.   Atlas had a contest for All Hallows Eve cosplay.  Here is the link to the results.

Other news:

Video Game awards on cable TV channel Spike TV December 7th:

Spike-Video-Game-Awards-2012-Nominees

With Samuel L. Jackson hosting, what’s not to love?

(Also: It’s a difficult choice for video game character/personality of the year… Commander Sheppard… or Cl4p-Tp!)

Minor update on the awards show eve.
If Commander Sheppard wins in the catagorey “Character of the Year”, one of the voice actors for him/her has to come to the podium, accept the award, get on the mic, and say “I’m Commander Shepard and this is my favorite award on the citadel”…

To Be Fair:
Below is my short 16 second case why Cl4p-TP should win…

Resident Evil 6 on Xbox 360 gets DLC update adding 3 modes of play to the existing game.  The modes of:

fileget.asp

Predator, Survivors and Onslaught will become available for purchase for 320 Microsoft Points.

“Available for two to six players, in Predator one player takes on the role of the Ustanak, the fearsome B.O.W. that stalks Jake Muller throughout his campaign, and tries to eliminate the human players.  The humans’ task: stop the deadly B.O.W. in its tracks, or at least survive until the end of the session.

Survivors takes the classic solo and team-based versus mode and adds a twist. Get killed and respawn as an enemy character with the ability to attack the human characters. Take down one human character to resurrect in human form. Last man or team standing wins. Survivors can be played by two to six players.

Onslaught sees two players go head-to-head in an attempt to clear waves of oncoming enemies. Chaining combos provides the key to success in Onslaught as this will send enemies over to the opponent’s screen, the more that are sent over, the quicker the victory will be.” –Capcom Press

This update will be followed by a general patch dated for 12/17/12 that will fix general camera issues, co-op issues, language and subtitle issues, as well as add a new extreme “No Hope” difficulty to various parts of the game.

And so far that’s pretty much it for November and mid(ish) December.
