More SUPERGIRL Casting News
Supergirl has more additions to the cast, and one of them could potentially be a villain.
Chyler Leigh (Grey’s Anatomy, Taxi Brooklyn) will play Alexandra “Alex” Danvers, Kara Zor-El’s foster sister. Her interest in science has become a lifelong obsession due to her fascination with Kara’s powers. Previous casting rumors have also described the character as somewhat annoyed that Kara starts using her powers openly, making efforts to help people.
David Harewood (Homeland) comes aboard as Hank Henshaw, former CIA agent and current director of the Department of Extra-Normal Operations, which tracks extraterrestrial threats on the planet Earth. In the comics, Henshaw was a scientist whose failed experiment led to his mental breakdown and run of villainy as the Cyborg Superman in the aftermath of The Death of Superman storyline.
The addition of Leigh and Harewood follows earlier news that Calista Flockhart will be playing Cat Grant. We also have word that the show is looking for an actor with the same physical build as Superman, leaving some to wonder if the Man of Steel will show up in shadow and hints, similar to the way Batman appeared in Birds of Prey, or if he’s going to return to television in a fully-realized appearance.
