Matt Ross Finds TOMORROW AND TOMORROW

Actor turned director Matt Ross is changing directions with his next film. Fresh off his success with Oscar-nominated indie comedy Captain Fantastic, he has been tapped to direct the science fiction dystopic drama Tomorrow and Tomorrow.
Joining him is Mark Gordon producing through The Mark Gordon Company with Entertainment 360 and Lynette Howell Taylor.
Based on Tom Sweterlitsch’s book, Tomorrow and Tomorrow was published by Penguin books in 2014. It was sold to Entertainment 360 who took it to Gordon. Together, they then sold the book to TriStar in a competitive auction.
John Dominic Blaxton lives in Pittsburgh – which is action a virtual reconstruction a city that has been in ruins for a decade and in an elaborate infrastructure called the Archive. Not only does the virtual reality rebuild the city’s building, parks, and landmarks, but also the people who once lived there, which also includes Blaxton’s wife and unborn child who were killed in the explosion that destroyed the city. He investigates the cold case deaths from before Pittsburgh’s destruction and finds himself in the middle of a mystery with powerful implications that are centered on the murder of one woman who was curiously deleted from the Archive.
Excited for the project, Ross made a statement that expressed his desire to explore humanities relationship with technology:
Tomorrow and Tomorrow is prescient, it posits a world not so dissimilar from today. A direction we are all clearly headed. where technology has altered the ways in which we interact with each other and the world around us. I hope to examine, following the book’s lead, the degree to which our lives are enhanced, and deeply compromised, by the technology that is already an inseparable part of our daily existence. [Captain Fantastic producer] Lynette [Howell] and I couldn’t be more excited to collaborate with Hannah [Minghella] to translate this book into the complex and relevant film we all believe it can be.

Ross is best known for his action on TV shows such as HBO’s Big Love and, currently, Silicon Valley. He has also made appearances the films American Psycho, The Aviator, and Face/Off. Ross made his feature length directorial debut with the 2012 infidelity-centric drama 28 Hotel Rooms, which he also wrote.
