Mark Hamill Returns as Trickster

BANNER_News2013

It seems The Flash is hitting the Nostalgia Button again, this time bringing back one of the Flash’s foes from the 1990s. Mark Hamill will return as the Trickster.

HitFix is reporting that Hamill will join the cast of The Flash and reprise his role as James Jesse, also known as the Trickster. Joining his fellow alumni John Wesley Shipp and Amanda Pays, Hamill is the third veteran of The Flash (1990) to join The Flash (2014).

From the description provided to HitFix:

The Trickster is an anarchist terrorist  con man serving a life sentence in Iron Heights who helps Barry (Grant Gustin) and Det. West (Jesse L. Martin) to foil the city-wide attacks of a wannabe Trickster eagerly following in the original’s deadly footsteps.   The episode will reunite him with John Wesley Shipp who went up against him as the original ‘Flash’ on the CBS version.

The “new Trickster” is likely to be Axel Walker, who followed in the original Trickster’s footsteps when he was recruited into crime by the villainess Blacksmith. Doubtful she’ll show up, but you never know with this show…

Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said, “Having Mark reprise his role as The Trickster was on our original wish list when we were planning our version of The Flash.  Christmas and Chanukah came early for us this year when he said yes!  We are beyond humbled and excited to have him joining us for another round of deadly trickery!”

As with Pays returning as Tina McGee, Hamill’s return to the Trickster points even further toward the idea of a television multiverse, something we discuss a bit in the latest Rogues Gallery episode. He’s set to appear in the 17th episode.

Any chance Joyce Hyser comes back as Prank?
