Legendary Releases First TV Spot for WARCRAFT
Legendary Pictures has released the first 30-second commercial for this summer’s Warcraft, the new film based on the World of Warcraft video game franchise from Blizzard Entertainment.
The cast includes Travis Fimmel, Ben Foster, Paula Patton, Ben Schnetzer, Dominic Cooper, Ruth Negga, Toby Kebbell, Robert Kazinsky, Clancy Brown, Anna Galvin and Daniel Wu. Duncan Jones (Moon) directs.
Jones has said that the challenge to bringing Warcraft to the big screen was finding the right story to tell, especially given the game has been around for so long and now has such a broad story universe.
At Comic-Con International in San Diego this past summer, Jones said, “It’s so important that we get it right,” adding, “[T]here’s a huge fan base. Warcraft is a game that’s been around for about 20 years now, 10 years as an online game. I’ve been playing it from the very start, being involved in realizing this world and bringing it to film is a unique privilege.”
Jones co-wrote the script with Charles Leavitt. Legendary Pictures is co-producing with Blizzard Entertainment and Atlas Entertainment. The movie hits theaters June 10.
