Genre Golden Globes? Not Many

The Golden Globe nominations were announced today, and the genre shows didn’t fare too well. Here’s a look at what made it on the radar of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association:

“Game of Thrones” received the nomination for Best Drama Television Series. This was the show’s only nomination, which seems a bit paltry given the critical and popular acclaim the show’s been getting. It’s surprising that at least one of the actors didn’t get a nod.

Johnny Galecki got a nomination for his work on “The Big Bang Theory” (which is secretly our lives, you know… right?) Galecki tells The Hollywood Reporter: “They started texting me at 5:20 in the morning and I accused them of being misinformed and drunk.”

And sorry… no love for “Community” from the HFPA.

The Adventures of Tintin, Cars 2 and Puss in Boots also received nominations in the Animated Feature category. And Martin Scorcese’s Hugo is included in the Best Picture – Drama category. Most of the nominations were given to only a few titles.
The 69th Annual Golden Globe® Awards will be televised January 15, 2012.
