First Video: ASH VS. EVIL DEAD
Starz has released this teaser for the upcoming new series, Ash vs. Evil Dead. While it doesn’t give away… well… anything, it does throw out some familiar callbacks to the original Evil Dead movies. Note the presence of both the chainsaw and the “boom stick”.
The new 10-episode series finds Bruce Campbell’s Ash Williams finally accepting his responsibilities as a monster hunter when a Deadite plague threatens to destroy mankind. After thirty years avoiding his fate, he now has to face his demons and meet his destiny.
Campbell is joined by Lucy Lawless (Spartacus, Xena: Warrior Princess) as the mysterious Ruby, who believes Ash is the cause of the plague outbreaks; Jill Marie Jones (Sleepy Hollow) as disgraced Michigan State Trooper Amanda Fisher; Ray Santiago (Touch, Meet the Fockers) as Pablo Simon Bolivar, an idealistic immigrant who becomes Pancho to Ash’s Don Quixote; and Dana DeLorenzo (A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas) as moody wild child Kelly Maxwell.
Raimi is set to direct the first of the ten half-hour episodes, and will executive produce along with Campbell, brother Ivan Raimi, and Rob Tapert. Craig DiGregorio will be the showrunner.
As Ash would say, “Groovy.”
