DEATH STRANDING Trailer and Release Date Drop

There are still a lot of questions about this game, but at least we got one big one answered. PlayStation revealed a new trailer for Death Stranding and announced its release date for November 8, 2019. The almost 9-minute story trailer gave us a look at the story as well as gameplay.

[Note: the trailer is age restricted, so it may not be appropriate for children.]

The game takes place in the future, although it is unclear when specifically. We do know that Earth, America in particular, is a shell of its old self. Sam, played by Norman Reedus, embarks on a journey to reunite cities and help rebuild society.

Reedus is joined in the cast by Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux, Margaret Qualley, Tommie Earl Jenkins, Troy Baker, and Lindsay Wagner, with special appearances by Guillermo Del Toro, Nicolas Winding Refn,

The end of the trailer had some choice words for us humans. It says it’s our role to accept the future and that we, as humans, are stronger together. Hideo Kojima posted a tweet that has a similar message. This game is going to show us that, if we are really going to make it in the world, we need to work together. No matter how this game sells, it is going to be a great example of why video games are art.

The gameplay seems to show your main form of defense is to run away. The trailer showed Sam running away from enemies before punching a few of them. You will be able to spawn various items like really long ladders and climbing ropes to help you get around the world.

The game is available for pre-order now on the PlayStation Store, which comes with in-game bonuses.

While Death Stranding is enjoying lots of attention, it seems that rumors of a State of Play all about The Last of Us 2 are false. The Last of Us 2’s release has been pushed back to early 2020, despite being in the late stages of production, since Death Stranding will be PlayStation’s holiday exclusive.

While it is exciting fans are finally getting more info on Death Stranding, there is still a lack of information on the other two major exclusives that will be the PS4’s victory lap this generation. Then again, E3 is right around the corner.
