Air and Space Museum Announces “Space Songs: Through the Distance”
The National Air and Space Museum announced that they’re going to be hosting a concert for us via YouTube. Titled Space Songs: Through the Distance, the concert hopes to show how human beings can still find ways to find a sense of community and creativity, even in isolated and bleak world we live in now.
The concert will premiere for free on YouTube 04/30/2020 at 8 p.m. EDT. It will be hosted by Tested’s Adam Savage and feature artists from across the country, including Valerie June, Clipping, Dan Deacon, Grace Potter, Ben Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie, Lukas Nelson, Vagabon, Bethany Cosentino of Best Coast and Wolf Parade.
“Space exploration is an extraordinary expression of humanity and an illustration of how extreme circumstances can bring out the very best in us all, as individuals and as a community,” said Ellen Stofan, John and Adrienne Mars, directors of the museum. “Although our locations in Washington and Virginia are temporarily closed, we wanted to continue our mission to engage the public with stories of people doing their very best work, wherever they are on Earth—or off of it.”
The Air and Space Museum is a part of the Smithsonian, located in Washington DC. It is free to enter, and it chronicles the many achievements that mankind has made, not only when it comes to flight and air travel, but in conquering the final frontier.
The songs will be composed by Grammy award winner Lawrence Azerrad and BYT Media.
