2022 Ringo Award Finalists Announced

The 2022 Mike Wieringo Comic Book Industry Awards finalists have been named for 2022. Recognizing outstanding achievements in comics, the award is named for artist Mike Wieringo as a memorial to his work in comic books. The awards celebrate “the creativity, skill, and fun of comics” every year. The nomination ballot is determined by both fans and professionals in the industry, with the final winners being selected by comics professionals.

Mike Wieringo began his comics career with Doc Savage: Doom Dynasty #1. Subsequent to that, he worked at DC Comics on The Flash, where he and writer Mark Waid created Bart Allen, AKA Impulse. He also worked with Chuck Dixon on Robin. For Marvel, his work included pencils for the Amalgam title Spider-Boy #1 and runs on The Sensational Spider-ManRogue, and Fantastic Four.  Wieringo died of an aortic dissection at age 44.

The 2022 awards will be presented October 29, 2022 at The Baltimore Comic-Con.
