Chinese film company DMG, one of the top production houses in the country, has sealed a deal with Hasbro to develop the world’s first live-action Transformers attraction.

DMG co-financed Iron Man 3, and recently spawned DMG Live as a subsidiary to produce live events. Dan Mintz is the exec in charge, and the show will be produced by S2BN Entertainment, the live entertainment company that produced Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, The Marvel Experience and Rock of Ages.

The new attraction will have a capacity of 4,500 and will feature live robots and special effects.

Transformers Live will be a cross between an action-adventure spectacle, a theme park attraction and a theatrical show,” said S2BN Entertainment chairman Michael Cohl. “Fans will experience intense action, beautiful visual moments, an emotionally engaging story, lots of humor and rousing music.”

The show is expected to launch sometime in 2017.
