Toby Stephens & Maxwell Jenkins Will Get LOST IN SPACE for Netflix

More casting news for the Netflix reboot of Lost In Space coming in 2018: Toby Stephens (Black Sails) will star as mission commander John Robinson (originally played by Guy Williams), astrophysicist and leader of the doomed expedition.

English actor Stephens currently stars as Captain Flint on Black Sails. Previous roles include Gustav Graves in Die Another Day and Edward Fairfax Rochester in the BBC’s adaptation of Jane Eyre. He also played young Frank Corvin (Clint Eastwood’s astronaut) in Space Cowboys, and happens to be a son of Dame Maggie Smith.

 Also joining the cast is Max Jenkins, who will play young Will Robinson, the boy genius role originated by Billy Mumy. Jenkins has appeared in recurring roles in the Netflix series Sense8 and ABC’s Betrayal, in addition to several guest roles on various network series.

Stephens and Jenkins join the previously announced Taylor Russell, who will play Judy Robinson.

The new Lost In Space will be written by Dracula Untold scribes Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, who will executive produce with showrunner Zack Estrin. Kevin Burns and Jon Jashni of Synthesis Entertainment will also executive produce along with Neil Marshall and Marc Helwig of Legendary TV division Applebox. Marshall is set to direct several of the planned ten episodes.
