THE LIBRARIANS Get an Extension

_______________

Last December, The Librarians debuted on TNT with over 5 million viewers tuning in to see Flynn Carsen and an extended team put a new spin on the storyline first introduced by The Librarian movies, starring Noah Wyle. Although the ratings fell after its premier double-episode launch, the show performed well overall, ending as basic cable’s #2 new series of 2014, and has been given the gift of life for a second season.

The first season established a new team of Librarian trainees, who learned to use their special skills as a team throughout the season and start to trust each other…well, just a little.

Also introduced was the evil Serpent Brotherhood and their successful plot to release magic to the world to further their own evil agenda.

Overall, the individual episodes supported a greater story arc, which made a lot of us very happy to see that it was actually going somewhere, as opposed to individual, stand-alone situations. The underlying theme was the tie to some of the characters to King Arthur’s legend, and we will be happy to see where that might lead (or just how far that reaches) as we venture into the next season.

The show stars Rebecca Romijn, Christian Kane, Lindy Booth, John Kim, Matt Frewer, and John Larroquette, with guest appearances from The Librarian movie characters played by Noah Wyle, Jane Curtin, and Bob Newhart.

The Librarians has a refreshing goofiness to it, daring to have fun with quirky personalities, impromptu contraptions, and witty sarcasms in a family-friendly way. TNT has ordered 10 episodes for season 2, which is expected to launch later this year.

Dean Devlin: “The world of The Library is a world I want to live in for the rest of my life…we want to just see how far we can keep pushing the limits of where the show can go.”

There is no doubt that the fans have enjoyed this series, and will look forward to another season of saving the world each week — twice before Friday.

    • Agreed, Stacey! I’m also interested to see if they give us more on the King Arthur connection, and whether Judson and Charlene might be part of that, too.
